View Full Version : Comcast 6412 video and audio dropout problem

I have the older comcast 6412 box and im geting video and mostly audio dropouts on a couple channels like fox hd and the inhd channels, Ive had comcast come out here 5 times and they can never fix it, Ive also unpluged it for a while myself without any luck. Has anyone else had this problem or have any suggestions that i can try? Also would it help to get one of the new box's? I have 2 box's that do the same thing.
Often these issues are associated with two things, either a poor signal strength or heat build up due to poor ventillation. You can check the signal strength and the STB temperature(s) in the menu.

Thanks for the help 57U, I wasn't sure which one was the main signal strength but this is what i got, Does everything look ok?
OOB Frequency 075.25
SNR 20.4 Good
AGC 22% Good
In Band Status
SNR 37.4 Good
AGC 54%
I don't remember the place of the temp being mentioned in the articles but i unpluged it and let it set for an hour but the problem is still there.
With the "good" beside the numbers, I guess all is OK there.
