For some strange reason Shaw broadcasts Saturday Night Live on an HD channel in SD. I e-mailed the and they said they would look into it but it is still SD. Would it be a problem at the affiliate's end? Has knowone else noticed this??

It would be an affiliate problem, the feeds are sent to them, it's up to them to forward the correct HD feed out to the customers and local cable company.
Seattle had apparently been screwing this up for quite a while... No idea why. Complain to Shaw, and complain to Seattle (via e-mail?) (I think your affiliate for SNL is Seattle)
1. People do notice, but very few complain.
2. Remember also that very few people actually watch HD - only about 10% of people with HDTVs actually watch HD.
The response from Shaw, if you get one, will be as follows:
"Shaw simply sends out what we receive. It's the affiliate's problem". (which is correct, but Shaw MAY contact the affiliate...)
