this is probably a relatively stupid question, however I've had my new tivo for about 2 weeks now and I note that when a program is being recorded the REC button on the front of the receiver will light up red...recently and currently this button is orange...I am not recording anything yet the REC light is now orange. I've looked in the manual and could not see what this meant...any help is appreciated. I know prior to this issue the light was green when not recording???

The orange light can mean 2 things:
1.) Its updating the Tivo service data package for Directv - Important in order for Tivo to work (this includes programming guide).
2.) Its updating Tivo DVR programs, shorts and clips from the 590's or other D* controlled channels.

makes sense....what doesn't is that the manual does not even bother to advise their users of this???? I will wait and see if this light goes to green soon...its been orange for several hours now?

well the light did change from orange back to green last night after several hours....I assume it was updating program guide..etc...thanks for the help
