Please forgive my naivete, as I am a relative newbie to the world of HD.

I am currently running a Mitsubishi WD-52627 52" DLP that is capable of 1080p, a NAD t763 AV Receiver, a Marantz dv-4500 DVD player, and digital HD cable via a Comcast box. This was all installed by an authorized dealer, so I am not 100% sure on how it is all connected, but I believe it is all component connections, not HDMI, and connected through the receiver.

The trouble is that I can't figure out how to get a better signal than 480i out of my DVD player. HD cable plays 1080i, and compared to the DVD signal, it blows it outta the water.

Does my DLP upconvert? Also, should I connect it different, or look at getting a different DVD player? I don't want to dump a lot of money into a new DVD player before the new HD-DVD/Bluray issue is resolved. Perhaps I should look into a NeuNeo?

Thank you for any thoughts!

All HDTVs upconvert. Your TV is a fixed pixel display and all incoming signals will be converted to that format. (1080P)

DVDs are encoded as 480i. They will never look as good as HD with similar production values.

You can consider a new DVD player, but don't expect miracles, you can't create a silk purse from a sow's ear you know.

A proper setup of your TV may help. See the HDTV FAQ "What you need to do to your new HDTV".
