Well I might have been retarded and I might not have been but went ahead and bought the Monster cables for the xbox instead of the HD AV kit that microsoft makes. So wanting some feedback from anybody who has seen both or has either and have you noticed any difference it the PQ from either one. I totally know that Monster is totally blown outta proportion and I never use them for the actually components that i already have, but thought well might as well get it for the xbox since its not an adapter like the one microsoft makes the monster ones go straight from the back of the xbox to the TV itself....

My thoughts on the subject... I Have the monster cables, and they work great. Ive seen the HD pack, it works great too. Heres the deal though. When I was doing my shopping around, It seemed that after you bought the MS HD pack, you still needed cables. Component cables to boot, PLUS audio cables means 2 whole sets of wire to get. Add it up, youll be right near the price of the Monster cables. Not only that, but with the HD pack you are also adding one more 'device' and/or connection point. You can lose some signal with the added devices (although unlikely to notice it on something like a vid game/xbox, not THAT much data going through). Plus, one thing I really liked about the monster cables is the wire mesh sheilding protecting the outside. I had a rabbit that chewed through one of my Playstation cords - that can get expensive.

Here's a little snippet of info about the Gamelink 400X. I bought one as well and when I got it home, much to my dismay, it doesn't come with that dumb-ass dongle for the Dolby Digital. What's this? I have to buy a $60 (CDN) Monster Optical Cable just to get this little dongle piece of shit? I don't think so you greedy monster bastards. So I called up Monster and bitched them out for forcing people to buy an optical cable they don't need just to get this stupid adapter. After much "hmming and hahing and let me talk to my supervisor" I finally got them to sell me the dongle for $5 US and ship it to my house. Me 1 Monster 0.
So don't buy that optical cable for that little dongle, who's dumb ass idea was that anyway?

Actually the Microsoft kit does come with the cables. Not the toslink digital cable but the component and regular audio cables. It seems as if the cables work just fine and I don't think the Monster could be worth the difference in cost. For the most part Monster really hikes up the cost of their cables for little or no improvement over other brands. :)
