View Full Version : Antenna Placement Question
I have a question about the placement of an OTA antenna. I have read all of the post in this forum and have yet to here of anyone mounting an antenna 5-6 feet off of the ground. The reason I am wondering about this is that my house has 2 large maple tree in direct line with the towers for the stations that i want to pick up. On another web site i have seen an adapter kit that will alow you to attach a antenna to your exsisting sat dish pole. My neighborhood has alot of 2 story houes and trees will this work?
Thanks Tom

Slim chance of an antenna 5 feet off the ground working but then again how close to the broadcast towers are you? For best results go higher. The lower to the ground the more obstructions. Best placement is as high above your home as possible.
Thanks Kevin, that is what i thought but , I hoped other wise.

Let me tell you from my personal experience. I initially had my antenna attached to my chimney with a five foot mast. The antenna just cleared the top of the chimney. I didn't get any of the digital channels very well. And I only live 10-15 miles from the towers. After trying no less that five different antennas, I tried a ten foot mast. I now get all the channels. Go figure.
