Hey everyone. I read somewhere of a guy hooking up his HDTV in this way:

"I hooked the cable directly to the built in HD TV tuner with a splitter running the other cable to the HD cable box and then used the HDMI output back to the TV."

I want to know if I could do this to my pioneer plasma too and if it makes a difference or not?

Sure, see the HDTV FAQs on "Poor SD PQ" & "Can I get Digital Cable"

If you have an SA STB, then you'll likely not notice much difference in PQ.

The "real" advantage IMO is that if the box is a DVR that can record 2 channels, you can watch a 3rd channel "live" in HD on the built-in tuner instead of just a previously recorded program.
