HI guys. i am going to buy a hdtv within a week and have done alot of research but i have not found 1 thing:

for video games and sports... DLP RP or LCD RP

i plan on buyin a ps3 when it comes out so with no motion blur i am guessing DLP. but another thing is does not having a tv 1080P make it not worth buying? so if i play ps3 on the tv and the games and movies are in 1080p and i can only play them in 1080i, will it still look good or what?

here are some LCD tvs i was looking at:

Hitachi 55VG825 Hitachi 55VG825 Website (http://www.hitachi.us/tv/browse/lcd/lcd/55VG825.shtml)

it has something called VirtualHD 1080P but i am not sure if that is a real 1080P tv or if its better than a regular 1080i tv.

Sony KDFE55A20 Sony KDFE55A20 Website (http://www.sonystyle.ca/commerce/servlet/ProductDetailDisplay?storeId=10001&langId=-1&catalogId=10001&productId=1001596&navigationPath=n32050n45260)

this doesnt have 1080P but i am not sure out of these 2 LCD tvs or should i just get a DLP which i am slightly leaning towards for video games and sports.

another thing is should i get a 1080i DLP, is it good enough or spend more for the 1080P DLP tvs. as i am on a budget of about $3000-3500 Canadian including taxes and i cannot afford more.

please help and thanks

Sony recently made an announcement saying that the PS3 will not beable to support 1080p for their games. HD-DVD players coming out are supporting 720p\1080i.

I would recomend the KDFE55A20. I have the 41inch version of the same TV and its amazing. Although you could have got the 50inch version over boxing week at Best buy for 2,999 ;p

Ill try and find the artical i read about PS3 and confirm that with you. Until I confirm it with a link dont believe me lol

I find that a little hard to believe....about the ps3 thing. Anywho, if you have the room bro get a DLP.

OK I found the thread that talked about the PS3. The artical was stated that the PS3 would beable to output 1080p but the Cel processor is not as powerful as reported by Sony and that trying to output games at 1080p would take up far too much fillrate baundwith causing games to slow down too much.

Still its early in the game and Sony LOVES to over hype features. To buy a TV now based on Sony saying the PS3 will run games at 1080p would be risky at best.

what about 1080P movies. and also if/when they have 1080P movies will the VirtualHD 1080P make any difference or not. if so, how much of a difference compared to 1080i dlp tvs.
