Why is it that the upconversion DVD players and the true HD-DVD players comming out will only play HD quility via HDMI only. Why will they not play HD quility via component also? Is it simply due to Copy Right with the HDMI? I know Component can play 1080i just fine so thats why im kinda confused.

Thanks for the help.

Is it simply due to Copy Right ....

That is correct...

Actually... it's more copy "protection" than copyright.

To add, I would guess that it's easier to hack an analogue connection (component) than any kind of digital connection.

Well yeah... digital DVI/HDMI use HDCP whereas analog does not.

Not just easier technically, but easier legally; hacking an HDCP connection raises DCMA issues, while it doesn't apply in the analog domain.
