Ok I need to know the differences between all DVD players? Like progressive scan and all the other ones, I'm a newbie when it comes to this. Plus the DVD recorders. Not sure...if I can get some help I would greatly appreciate it.

That's a pretty broad request.
Most all DVD players are progressive scan now. So it's basically a non-issue.
You have an option to get an 'upscaling' DVD player (720p/1080i). But... your TV needs either a DVI or HDMI input. Also... the upscaling provides little benefit in many cases.
If you want a recorder, then there are some limited choices and have may the same features.
