Trying to decide between a 40" Panasonic TH-42PX50U Plasma, (Consumer Reports Recommendation), and a 32" Sony Bravia KLVS32A10 LCD. Realize I am somewhat comparing apples to oranges so my main question is it worth the extra $1,000 to get the bigger Plasma set, or should I save the money and be perfectly happy with the LCD? Main viewing use will be sports and movies.
Also, wanted to see if anyone had any experience with the following on-line retailers: Dr. Plasma, Plasma Wholesale, LCD Mart, or Plasma House. They are all about $200.00 cheaper than those listed by CR but I am worried that they may not be as reliable. Any feedback, positive or negative, is appreciated.
My highest dollar purchase on any electronic item, up to this point, has been $600.00 so I am a little gun shy and your feedback will be helpful.
Thanks,
LB

I would definitely take the Panasonic Plasma as it had good pictures in motion, greater depth of colour and this is with me watching DVDs and HDTV at the store.
The LCD sets are good, but the plasmas from Panasonic are just fantastic.
As for size, you are more immersed in the the bigger screen to begin with and it enhances your HDTV experience more, IMO.
Go to the stores, not the online dealers for flat panels unless there is a really good return policy involved...see if there is a consistant good dealer rating like bizrate, etc, if you must buy on line, too.

I hope I don't get in trouble for posting other sites but BEWARE of those guys. Read about some of the scams coming out of those types of retailers:
http://www.plasmacity.com/CONTACT_US/FRAUD-ALERT.htm
Also, take a look at the store fronts:
http://donwiss.com/pictures/BrooklynStores/
(to find them, search the actual page for the names: all one word e,g,: "plasmahouse").
be careful.
In regards to the TV size, consider the high def content. Some would say that below 42" HD just isn't as impressive. Thats an opinion however.
