I just recently purchased the sony KDFE42A10 rear projection television. I am curious to get your thoughts on what is the best method of connecting my HD cable box, via HDMI or Component?

Also, I have an audio question for you...

I also have a sony surround sound system (part number ????) I was wondering on how I can have my audio hooked up to the tv and surround system at the same time. If I hook up my tv via Component do I not have to connect the audio wire to my surround system? (If I do that, doesnt that mean I wont have sound to the tv) I am assuming I would have to purchase some sort of splitter??

I hope I didnt confuse anyone.

thanks

HDMI or CV? See the HDTV FAQ on "DVI/HDMI Information" - Paragraph number 2 in bold. Try both to see which you prefer.

If you have the outputs on the back of the STB, then connect the audio to the TV and to the AV Receiver - typically analogue audio (red/white) to the TV and digital audio to the AV Receiver. (I always use my AV Receiver, so my TV speakers are rarely, if ever used.)

See the HDTV FAQ "Cables & Connections". If you don't have a digital AV Receiver, then you may need some "piggyback" cables or a "y-connector" for the red/white cables, but most people have digital receivers with at least one digital audio input.
