They just delivered my 50" sony grand wega. Big wow factor. Right now I only have coaxial from hd box to cable in on tv. Real nice picture. Later I am going to get a hdmi cable as this is supposed to give it an even better picture. Is this true and is quality related to price?

1. Your not getting true HD using a coaxial cable from the cable box to the TV.

2. HDMI would give you HD resolutions, you'd be better off buying a cable online from a place like hdtvsupply or monocable. HDMI is digital, as long as the 0's and 1's get from one end to the other the PQ will be the same, there's no need to drop $100+ on a Monster cable when you can get a cable online for $20-30 that will do the same thing.

As a work around til you get an HDMI cable, if they supplied component cables with the cable box, use those.

Yep, see the following HDTV FAQs:

- Cables & connections (RF-coax is not HD) Did Rogers hook you up that way?
- DVI/HDMI Information (you can get an HDMI cable for $10-20.
- What you need to do to your new HDTV (Set that TV up properly)
- Tips for SA STBS (if you're with Rogers with an SA box).
- Etc.

I originally had coaxial into rogers box and coaxial out of box into tv and it worked fine. No other devices in between. I now have HDMI cord out of rogers box into hdmi connection in back of my grand vega and it says no signal. This is exactly as per both manual instructions. WTF is wrong?

1. If you had coaxial out of the STB, you were not seeing HD, as only component video, DVI or HDMI can handle HD. see the HDTV FAQ on "Cables & Connections"

2. Have you run the setup wizard again? See the HDTV FAQ "Tips for SA STBs".

3. Which make, model STB do you have, and which model number Sony HDTV?

Did you try unplugging and replugging the cable to ensure it has good contact.

Have you tuned to the correct input on the TV (the one with the HDMI input).

Have you run the setup wizard as indicated in item two, post 5 above?

If none of this works, try component video cables (any three RCA cables will do as a test)

I am looking to buy this TV too, worried about PQ with SDTV and Xvid video. Anyone have experience with this TV and MPEG4?
