Sams Club has a Sony KDFE50A10 LCD RPTV with stand included for $2400. They also have a 3 yr service plan which starts after the manufacturers warranty ends for $200. This puts the TV total at $2679 after tax. This seems like a good deal, anyone have any thoughts/experience with Sams especially with their extended warranty. I read through the warranty, it is very general. It says it covers "parts and labor costs resulting from a mechanical or electrical failure of the Product caused by defects in workmanship and/or materials, including those experienced during normal wear and tear." I assume a bulb failure falls under this. I am really itching to buy a TV, hopefully by Super Bowl time.
I found less expensive prices on the net; however, with shipping ($169-257) pretty much a wash. Personally I prefer buying locally, if you have problems it could make it much easier to deal with.
Don't assume anything when it comes to extended warranties. I have seen some that do cover lamps and some that do not. $199 seems cheap for a three year. Check the contract closely or even call the warranty company and ask if you can't find it in the contract. Remember, no matter what anyone says, it is what is in the contract that counts.

Any other options besides Sony? Don't get me wrong, Sony is a nice set, just sometimes a little more expensive than other brands.

I don't know anything specific about the Sam's extended warranty, but in reference to the bulb being covered by this warranty, you need to make sure that it is and for how many times. I bought my Sony LCD at Circuit City and was told by the salesman that the bulb replacement was covered as many times as needed during the life of the extended warranty. However, upon closer checking I found that bulb replacement was limited to one time and you had to send in the bulb for evaluation before they would send you a replacement. That could mean quite some time that you would be without the use of your tv. Since I have owned several Sony tv's (all of which are still working fine) and never had any problems with any of them, I decided not to buy the service plan ($399.99) and will pay for the bulb myself when it starts to fail.

Go to SAMs and get it. You can take it back up to 1 year after the sale and they will refund your money if you are dissatisfied. Try and get service like that from the net...

If they sold the 42" version I'd go get it right away. The 50" seems too big because I'm only 8 ft from my TV.
