I have a problem with my recordings. The clock on the 6412 is supposed to be set by a signal being broadcast by our local PBS station and cannot be reset manually. It's now 40 seconds late and it's chopping off the first part of recorded shows. It loses about five seconds a month. Pretty soon it'll be a minute off. Any ideas? Contact Comcast? Contact the PBS station? Any unknown manual reset?
Contact your cable company. I don't believe the clock signal is sent by PBS (like it is for VCRs). I believe this signal comes from the cable company head end.
Mine is always "right on".

Do what I do. When you select a program to record, rather than picking "record this program" choose "recording options for this program." In the options, you can select to start the recording up to 15 minutes early and 15 minutes later. In your case, if you set the recording to start a minute early you should be fine.

I am going to do the one minute early deal. I don't think Comcast would care to set their clock right.
The only problem with the "one minute" thing is that you'll have to watch out for conflicts when programmes are "end to start".

Comcast said last week they would reset their clock. They did. Now it's only twenty seconds late. :headb:
In this day and age, there is no reason for that clock to be incorrect. There are plenty of accurate time signals available. This is just plain silly. I will accept an error of up to a second or two, but no more. If my computer at home knows what time it is, their computer should also.

If you're doing the start and end time offset "trick" be careful doing this on series recordings - this has been known to lock up and reset the box once a day when the box tries to sync all the scheduled recordings.
