One is not more superior then the other. It has more to do with what you are looking for. Please read this. http://www.hdtvoice.com/voice/showthread.php?t=4801

Screen door effect is not mentioned in the FAQ for LCD
Color wheel failure for DLP.
Both are good technologies, and will only get better with more revisions. I have had a hard time choosing between the two also, I think I am going to go with LCD. Reason being that LCD tends to have a brighter picture, IMO and has better viewing angles.
The Sony KDF-E42A10 is the model I am looking to buy.
I have also considered the Samsung HL-R4266W.

The newest DLP set - the Samsung 56" shown at CES and projected for sale in April at $3999 list (per Samsung) has no bulb assy, only a LED lighting source that offers better colour and no colour wheel- no rainbows possible.
This is what could kill off LCD RPTVs altogether and give LCoS displays a run - or at least a change of lighting - to LED lighting sources, too.

The superior set will be the one you like/want the most. Only your eyes can tell you which technology is superior.

I was a t a store the other day
I was watching the football game for about an hour.
Setup.
Motorola 6412 using component to the following TV's. We watched a number of things
DVD's via an upscaling player. Discovery HD theatre, And FOx 720P broadcast of the playoff game.
Mitsubishi DLP 720P 1080P
Mitsubishi diamond 815 1080I
JVC D-ILA
SOnt grand wega
Samsunn 720 sets and 1080P sets.
RP CRT 1080I
DLP 720p
DLP 1080p
D-ILA 720P
Lcos 720P
I have to say watching the game, movies, and HD theatre on all of those TV's The CRT IMO still looked the best.
No bad angles, sharp picture, great color resolution. rich blacks.. no motion issues no rainbows. and no pixelation issues.
I noticed with the 1080P sets there appered to be some blurriness..(due to the wobulation?) and the 720P jjust didnt look as sharp as I had hoped. Also the colors looke a little off.

Screen door effect on LCD is pretty much a dead issue in most cases. Unless your sitting 5 ft away from your 60" display. If your sitting anywhere more then about 10 feet back you wouldn't see it. DLP and LCD seem to be pretty much on par with each other when your comparing similar models. I would say though DLP seems to have a higher chance of problems/issues then LCD from just looking on this site and doing research on both technologies.
I would recommend you go out to some of your high end audio/video stores in your area and look at the different technologies. Reason for this is that these stores may not offer you the best price but they usually always calibrate there tvs properly. Unlike what you'll find at Best Buy, Circuit City, etc. After that then search around for best price. Also don't forget to look at each TV in HD and standard. Since alot of channels are only SD it important to make sure your TV looks good with a SD singal. But beware once you see HD its hard to look at SD and have anything good to say about it.
Also don't forget to check out the new Sony SXRD TV's it uses Lcos technology and gives you 1080p. I have yet to see a bad review on them.
