I am in the market for a 23" HDTV for the bedroom. I will be viewing the set from about 3.5 feet away. I do not have room for a 26" set so my only choice is a 23" or smaller LCD TV. I am thinking about the Sony HLV-S23A10. I am worried about something I read in the Sony Manual. I realize that all brands probably state the same thing, but I quote Sony "Although the LCD Screen is made with high-precision technology, and has effective pixels of 99.99% or more, black dots may appear or bright points of light (red, blue, or green) may appear constantly on the LCD Screen. This is a structural property of the LCD panel and is not a malfunction."
How prevelant is the problem, and is it something that is easily visible on a 23" screen from 3.5 feet? If 1 pixel is "black", would that be visible on a white background, or would there have to be a cluster of pixels together to be visible? I would hate to spend $900.00 on a 23" TV and be staring at colored dots whenever I watch it. No manufacturer that I know makes a 23" CRT TV so it's LCD or nothing.
I currently own a 26" Philips CRT HDTV, which looks fine from a distance, but from 4 ft away looks Very grainy which is another reason to go to a smaller screen from that short distance.
Thanking you in advance,
GM
