What is the process for upconverting a HDTV to accept other video formats?

I think you're looking at something external - basically the TV's gonna do what it's gonna do - unless you have expansion slots or something (haven't found any on my Zenith yet). I was reading your other thread, did you get the JVC JX-S111 component video switch? They make a higher-end model (JX-S777) that I believe will do some conversion - considering it has both analog and digital I/O:
