Received my new Panny projector from Visual Apex Online (authorized dealer) for a total of $1950. Set it on the coffee table, plug in the component cables, turned it on and used Monster, Inc. for a test.
Although I had to use a white bedsheet for a screen since my Carada 110" Cinema White won't arrive for a few days, all I can say is WOW! Right out of the box the colors are brilliant, the contrast is excellent (5500:1), brightest was more than I was expecting at a throw distance of 15', and the black levels are also better than I thought an LCD could produce.
The lens shift toggle made setup a breeze. The fan noise is almost non-existent on low and hardly noticiable on high.
After talking with Rex Brittle at Carada about possibly exchanging for grey screen, he said I made the right choice since I can watch on the low bulb setting and just turn to high when the bulb starts to wear out. He said he even plans to buy the same model.
It truely is like being at the movies. I viewed part of Armageddon and noticed details and action I've never seen before, even viewing on my Toshiba 57H84. Bigger is definitely better!
I highly recommend this projector and I haven't even calibrated it as yet with DVE.
