I'm awaiting on my recent purchase of a 50" Sony SXRD...I'm looking for suggestions around a power console that will adequately support and protect this model. I'm thinking that the Belkin PureAV PF30 might do the trick, but I'm not certain. Thoughts?

I use a Trip-Lite I bought for about $100 at Staples on both of my LCD sets.
It does power conditioning, UPS back up for cooling that SXRD bulb correctly and surge protection...try that.

What model are you refering to, gparris?
To allow the fan to cool the bulb, You need to turn the set off, right? In other words the unit will not turn the TV off, and still allow the fan to cool the bulb.

What we're talking about is a UPS to keep the fan running in case of a power failure, so that the bulb doesn't burn our prematurely because the fan stops running in the event of a power failure.

I'm already on that page.
My question was what model of the Tripp-Lite offered the ups.. after surfing there site, I'm unable to locate any HT UPS.
Next questions,
Is the UPS smart enough to turn off your TV, to allow your fan to cool the bulb? If the power goes out, the UPS will keep the TV on, and stay that way untill the battery runs low, and then shut the whole TV down. What I'm assuming is the battery backup will just extend the TV staying on, and if the end user is smart enough to realize that everything else is off, then it is there responsibility to turn the set off.
Is there any software interface to the UPS to change options, Like a PC UPS?

You need to manually turn the TV off when the power goes out. I believe gparris is just using a computer based UPS, they don't make HT specific ones.

Yes, the unit will keep your set on until you turn it off, but as with most bulb-based displays, the internal fan will cool the bulb for a few more minutes to help save bulb life...the reason why I bought them for my Sony 60" LCD and Hitachi 70" LCD sets...works good, so far. :)

This unit is good for a HT version, anyway, as the only thing you might want to back up would be your TV bulb cooling and perhaps your DVR, which doesn't take as much power as the HDTV set would.

The reason for asking is, I think Monster is pushing a new battery back-up that has a new technology. tIt turns of fyour set & still allows the fan to cool the bulb

Got a link? Only way it could turn the set off is if it's got an IR blaster you could program with your set's remote code for off.

Monster power UPS (http://www.monstercable.com/power/productPagePower.asp?pin=2909&LastPage=Uninterruptible%20Power)
It only has 2 outlets, and advertises "exclusive Monster CoolDown™ Technology"
I ended up buying the Tripp-lite for $80 @ Staples. Honestly it wasn't even a question.
**$80 for 4 UPS/Line Conditioned/Surge Protected outlets & 4 Line Conditioned/Surge Protected outlets.
Advertises 3 hr backup, and has coax protection also.
**$300 for 2 outlets on UPS only
BTW It does have a DC/IR controller

Some of the more expensive UPS, provide for "sine wave" power output when operating on battery. A lot of the less expensive UPS do not output the proper sine wave power under battery. This can cause problems in isolated cases (Personally, I have one of the cheaper ones)
