I have a Motorola DCT 6412 and recently bought a High Definition antenna with the hope that I can pick up the local high definition broadcasts. I don't have a HD receiver so I was hoping to use the DCT6412. Does anyone know if this is possible?

Any help would be awesome!

Thanks

It is not possible. It'd be like trying to pick up AM with an FM radio. Cable uses QAM and ATSC is 8VSB.

I assume you want to simply hook up an antenna to it and get OTA local digital stations. The box was mainly intended to be used with Comcast Digital cable signals and a recorder. At $700 a pop it should pick up OTA signals. Since you have the antenna and box simply hook it up to any TV and give it a try. I did a search for you and couldnt find any confirmation. So give it try and let us know. Thats if no one answers your question soon. Cant hurt to try it out.

At $700 a pop it should pick up OTA signals. Chris, see post 2. No cable STBs can pick up OTA digital.

Many of the newer HDTVs have ATSC/QAM tuners, but that's different.

I'll second that, there's nothing to try, the 6412 doesn't have an ATSC tuner built into it..
