Finally! Another choice for Frfx Cnty...Cox, DTV, Dish and now- Verizon FIOS TV. Verizon signed an agreement with Fairfax County back in September and has finally opened up service for FIOS Tv. The channel line up looks pretty good- not as many sports channels as DTv, but more in the way of HD channels, including all the local HD's not just the major four. Cost to install $0 (at least that's what I'm told for up to three outlets). The price plans should be a bit less than DTV- at least for what I was getting. Don't like the "renting" of the set-top boxes, but we'll give it a try since there is no cost and no contract obligation.

I tried to get DTV to upgrade to H20 and 5LNB, but they wanted to charge $99 for the install, but they would give me three months of Showtime to offset the charges. But, get this, they wanted to take my STB (I own it) when they installed the new one.

I guess the people at DTV Customer Retention need to do more than offer a plastic card with a "private" phone number to take care of their customers needs.

Verizon installation is scheduled for the 27th.

I would be interested in what you think of the service once you have had it for a little while. It may be coming to my area soon. I currently have Comcast and while I am happy with what I get, the price keeps going up up up. Thanks.

I have had it for 3 weeks now and I am very pleased. I have 2 HD-DVRS abd 1 standard receiver. The HD looks good live or recorded and I have not had any service interuptions. The HD channels offer a good variety.

These are the HD channels I have in Dallas with just Extened Basic Service:

FOX
ABC
NBC
CBS
PBS
TNT HD
Universal HD
HDNET
HDNET Movies
Discovery HD
Wealth TV HD
Discovery HD
MTVHD
ESPNHD
ESPN2 HD

Forgot to mention all channels are digital. The SD content looks good too. Much better than D* Network. They are all upconverted to 480P if you specify that in your STB options.
