Hello,
I own a MX-42XM11 42" plasma TV and i have a question on the wide button on the remote. Does anyone know when this is supposed to work. i tried using component and DVI connections but all i can use wide is to switch between 16:9 and 4:3. i thouhg that it was supposed to do panorama, zoom1 and zoom2 . can some one please help

Please realize that most HDTVs cannot properly stretch HD signals (720P/1080i). If you have a STB, you need to configure it to output 480i/p for the SD channels and those you can stretch, but not the HD. Some STBs have a linear stretch for the HD channels..

See the HDTV FAQ "Widescreen Stretch Modes".

Since you have a plasma, please see the following additional FAQs.

- Burn In
- What you need to do to your new HDTV..
Etc.

thank you very much for the reply. i have already set the SD channels at 480P using the STB . But my question was when can the TV actually stretch it? i tried at 480p and it wouldnt do it. thanks again

Perhaps your TV cannot stretch 480p (most do). Have you tried 480i? Which make/model STB do you have?

See the HDTV FAQ "Tips for SA STBs". Once you have the STB set up properly, you should have no problems with the appropriate stretch modes.
