Any decent tweaks I can do after I get done with the Avia disc?

Any issues that need correcting right away?

check that you have the latest firmware. it is in the menu screen. I haven't checked lately but there are several upgrades. they added the tvguide onscreen, which yours probably already has if you bought from a dealer. other changes helped with programming and random shutoffs and cable card issues.

the phone number to check firmware is in the manual. they will fedex you a memory card with instructions.

See the HDTV FAQ "What you need to do to your new HDTV". Also see the FAQ on "poor SD PQ".

Might be slightly off topic - but after running the AVIA disc, doesn't that only change the settings for that input?

in other words - if I set it up under the DVD input - when I switch to my cable box inputs does the video settings all change???????????????????? just curious.

This will depend on the TV, some calibrate by input, some by format (1080i, etc). You will need to look at the "other" inputs/formats and set them similar to the one you used for the DVD and then tweak by eye.

If you have an upconverting player, you can tweak a whole bunch of inputs or formats, but you need to realize that each component is different, so a DVD player has different black levels for example than other DVD players and STBs.

Toaster,

based on the 62825 ... i believe that there is separate settings for each one.. ANT, DVD, SAT, cable, etc..

I also have a WD-52825 TV and have been reading a lot about the Avia disc. Can someone tell me what the disc helps to adjust? Is it necessary for DLP TVs?

See also the HDTV FAQ "What you need to do to your new HDTV". It helps set up all TVs.
