I want to know the flat out best upconvert dvd player on the market? I dont care how much it costs so price is not an issue.

I went to cnet but i cant seem to find anything that ranks upconvert dvd players.

If your TV already upscales everything to it's native resolution (IE 1080i or 1080p), then an 'expensive' upscaling DVD player is probably not going to provide a dramatic enhancement to picture quality.

IMO... wait for whenever HD-DVD or Blu-Ray players are available.

For the time being, any Progressive scan DVD player will suffice.

Ya i went to bestbuy and given very good infomration that were factual on going with blu-ray or hd-dvd players...

HD dvd players are the way to go for a variety of reasons.

thanks

While I don't know what the best is there is no question that there are a couple of players that seem to maintain themselves a cut above the similarly priced competition.

The Oppo models and the Panasonic S77 or S97 players - all of which are about 200 bucks. There are much more expensive models on the market, but I haven't heard much about them performing far better than the Oppo or Panny models I just listed.

The real deal is HD disc players coming out in the upcoming months. They will deliver far more resolution and image quality from the beginning without all that nasty upconverting stuff.

I would go with either the Sony DVP-NC85H or the DVP-NS75H they are both basically the same thing, only one is a 5 disc unit and one a single disc. I personally prefer the carousel type. They are awesome units and the "image shift" problem the DVP-ns70H had has been resolved with the new model.

(image shift was a thin black line that ran across the top of the screen)

The best player is the Denon 5910, followed by the Denon 3910, Pioneer DV-79AVi, 59-AVi...

Lower end Oppo.

And I will say a good DVD player makes a difference! atleast it did for me.
