I just bought a Monster HTS 1600 power center for my HDTV and home theater system for $299. Then I noticed other HDTV rated surge protectors for much less on line. Can anyone tell me what I really need?

If you have a TV that has a bulb in it that requires the fan to keep running after you turn it off, it would be a good idea to get a UPS/surge protector. This will keep the fan running in the event of a power failure (LCD, DLP, etc).

You basically get what you pay for in terms of surge protection and UPS backup, except for Mon$ter, which usually costs twice as much as anything else and isn't typically any better.
