CT-30WX54J no Closed Caption

All,

My TV suddenly lost its ability to show closed captions. I double checked everything and the option IS enabled in the menue, yet no letters appear on the screen. Might not necessarily be the most important feature for most people but my parents really need to see the words as they don't hear that well.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Recheck the CC options in the TV. There are usually 2 or three "flavors" (cc1, cc2, etc.). Make sure that you have to proper one selected.

When testing, be patient. Sometimes it takes 15 or so seconds to display.

If you are feeding the TV a signal from a STB, TVs can only CC 480i signals. If you're feeding HD, you'll need to get the STB to do the CC. Most STBs are able to do that with the appropriate settings.

I'll double check tonight. As far as the feed goes it gets non HD from the room antenna; I know this is not the best setup but this is what I have for now.

Once again thanks everyone who took time in responding to my questions. The CC works now. I realized that the TV was on warranty and had a serviceman to come over. Unfortunately I was 10 minutes late afer he arrived and by that time everyting was fixed. He was chinese and spoke almost no english so I colud not get what he did out of him... Oh well...
