Now that I am pretty confident that my setup is working good, I think it's time to properly ground the antenna. My antenna is on a ten foot mast, attached to the side of my chimney. It's one of the radio shack antennas, combination UHF and VHF. How do I properly ground it to protect it (and my equipment, and my house) from lighting strikes? I live in Florida and there are a lot of thunderstorms here. Where do I attach the ground wires? To the mast? To the antenna boom? What about the coax? Where should I put my ground rod? (How far from the slab my house sits on) What type of ground rod should I use? What type of wire should I use? What about "porcupines"? (I can't wait to see what the HOA will have to say about that) What else do I need to know about antenna grounding?
