A problem recently arose on my 47" HDTV. There is a permanent pinkish purple blob coming from the right side (about 2 inches wide, and whole length of screen) of the screen. This blemishes about half of the screen and makes it impossible to watch without getting a headache. Does anyone know what this could be and how easily it can be fixed?? Please help me out, as I have no idea. Thanks!! :thankyou3

It is a Panasonic....PT-47Wx42F
See the HDTV FAQ "Things to check first". Unplug the TV for a while to see if it resets. If not, you may need to call for service. Pink is often a sign of a poor connection of some sort.

I tried unplugging for a while and it is still doing it. It seems to not be so bad after the TV is off for a while, but after it is on the worse it gets as time goes on. Any more suggestions anyone?? :pop222:

simply take a speaker magnet ,hold it face to the screen where you have the pinkish purple and move the pinkish to the corner of your TV,
i had the same problem, it comes because of old video's plugged to your machine

Even though it is not a good practice, a magnet will affect a direct view CRT. In this case, I highly doubt it will do squat with an RPTV (assuming it's a CRT).

Service Mode Panasonic 47
I just replaced the 2 convergence ICs with my set & fixed the initial
problem. The TV was functioning with some blemishes on the upper left and
lower right of the set. I'm DIY guy & tackled the service
mode directions without writing the old values & then reseted all the values to
default, now the blemishes has turned to a BIG DISASTER.If someone out there wrote their old values Please help. Thank you in advance.
See the HDTV FAQ "Service Codes". Each TV is unique, there are no default settings. Some one else' settings may get you in the ballpark.

Great old panny site may help you
http://www.panny.tv/
There is a copy of the service manual that will work with numbers listed. It will get you started in the right direction at a minimum.
Read the known tweaks.
A rebuild of the coarse geometry is pretty simple, start with the green rectangle, and straighten the lines to make it look perfect. Then red to the green, finally blue to the green. Touch up the fine convergence when done.
