Is there any brand that's recommended over others? Personally I like APC brand (which I use for my computer) but I know Belkin is also good. How is the Monster brand model that I've seen for $50 at both Target and Best Buy? I'm not sure if I do/don't need a protector that expensive or not, but I DO want something definitely with coax protection incase I ever decide to go with an outdoor antenna or even cable/satellite later on. I also saw "Power Sentry" brand at Best Buy (also $50) and it's labled as a power conditioner/surge protector and offers coax protection. Any thoughts suggestions? Thanks!

Definitely get yourself a good surge protector and possibly a line conditioner if you live in an area that's prone to power issues. However check out the link below as to why it might not be a good a idea to run your coax through your surge protector. There's other solutions that have been mentioned to independently protect your coax. Do a search for "surge protector" plenty of threads out there.

Another link for ya.
Check out the triplite mentioned by gparris on post 3 in this thread.

Properly grounding the antenna is one of the best things you can do to protect against surges, in the event of a direct or near direct hit, no surge protector is going to save you anyway.

I'm moving in a couple weeks to about 3 miles from my current location, so hopefully my great rabbit ear HD reception I'm getting now should continue when I move and I won't have to worry about grounding the antenna or placing it outside. In the meantime I'll check out those threads you linked to, Oman321. Thanks! :)

Ok, I found 3 units that i think I've narrowed it down to. A Belkin (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16812120232), an APC (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7180579&type=product&productCategoryId=cat08028&id=1110267355518) and a Newpoint (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=6875553&type=product&productCategoryId=pcmcat72100050011&id=1093469818501). I'm going mainly by joule ratings on them, all are comparible in that sense. All are 2500+ rated which we know the higher the better. I'm leaning between the Newport and the APC. I like the look of the APC, but the Newpoint is also nice looking, and more space friendly it seems as well too not being as wide as the Belkin and APC units. Newpoint also has a 7-outlet version at Best buy that's rated at 1500 joules and $10 cheaper.

I decided to stick with a unit that has more A/V in mind than your average APC surge protector would. I ended up with this rather nice Acoustic Research surge supressor/power conditioner (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?categoryid=cat08201&id=1122655460958&skuid=7424879&tl_mid=153&type=product&DCMP=KNC-TLC&ref=25&loc=SHP) for under $40.
