I have DVD composite connections from my HK DVD player to HK AVR 510 then from the monitor connection to my HDTV however, I am not able to view the HK on screen display screen. I can see the HK OSD with my Svideo connection for satelite or cable TV.
Help....???
The OSD may only be available via that connection. My older Yamaha only allows OSD via composite video if I recall. This is not atypical.
Once you've done the setup of the receiver, there's not much need for the OSD. I know I turned mine off.

The OSD allows me to customize the audio speaker/SW settings (variable volume for each speaker) in my 5.1 surround mode as well as the setting of the delay in digital/DTS mode.
Yes, I know what it does, but once you've done the setup, it's not usually necessary to go back and change it a lot.
Although the setup is easlier to do with the OSD, my Yamaha allows me to make changes via the (lesser) information on the front panel. Not sure of your HK has that feature.
You can leave your S-video cable connected and use that input when necessary.
