View Full Version : XWX at TWX Price...what would you do?
Since both my father and I are in for a new tv. He got a two unit price from CC that is equal to my TWX price.
What would you do? The HD receiver is the differance. XWX has many complaints of grainy picture and poor tuner intergration whereas swx and twx do not.
Can the receiver be removed if need be? giving me a twx with black cabinet of xwx.
Please advise

You can always use an external receiver (bypassing the internal one) with the xwx if you choose to.
:) thanks tom
Is there a way to by-pass standard cable into the set? I don't know why , but I am still attributing all the grainy picture feedback of the xwx to the internal tuner.

Check out the Hitachi page:
http://www.hitachi.com/tv/browse/projection/16-9digital/16-9digital_index.shtml
There is a lot of good information / images there. Click on the "input / output" for each tv you are considering to see a picture of the various inputs on the back of the set.
[soapbox mode on] My experience is that all HDTV's put out a picture that ranges from crappy to barely acceptable when looking at anything that is not sourced from a DVD, or High Definition (TV) broadcast. This includes basic analog cable, digital cable, and satellite systems. I can tolerate my DirecTV broadcast of non-HD material, but some people may not. However the HD material is nothing short of amazing, and DVDs (my main foodgroup) make the set worth every penny. [soapbox mode off]
The XWX image you see on a showroom floor may not be using the internal tuner. If it is a satellite (direcTV or Dish Network) broadcast based then it definitely is not using the internal XWX tuner.
Tom
up-date: the price we were quoted was wrong :( , I thought it was too good to be true.
However, the 57xwx is still a good deal for $3,040, I think.
So, twx with 65" @ 3,200 or xwx with 57" @ 3,050 ....?
I love the xwx, my worry is that I will regret not having gone bigger.
second question, closest broadcast is NYC @ 50-60 miles. There are some closer, but NYC has 10 plus hd stations from one orientation. Will I get the signal from that far?
