We get a lot of requests for service menu codes. Ratman has found the following sites which have that information.

Please note the following warnings about using the service menu:

- The service menu is designed to be used by trained professionals only. Operating in there is perhaps like operating on yourself - not recommended. If, in spite of this warning you are intent on venturing into the service menu, please note the following:

- Do not change anything in the service menu without first writing it down.

- Mucking about in the service menu can void your warranty and ruin your TV (even if you do write down the settings sometimes there are changes that you cannot "recover" from).

- There are often no "reset" options and there are no "factory settings". Each TV is unique and has different settings.

- Write down all settings that you have changed in the normal USER menus. Sometimes simply entering into the service menus will reset user settings to factory defaults (Samsung and perhaps others).

- It's good to have a service manual if you go into the service menu.

- You have been Warned

Most TVs can be set up very well using the user menus, see the HDTV FAQ "What you need to do to your new HDTV".

Other Warnings

- Do not adjust anything unless you know what you're adjusting. People adjust focus and trimpots and then wonder why they have a lousy picture. If you adjust the colour trimpots, it's unlikely you'll ever get the greyscale correct, without a professional calibration.

- Adjusting any of the potentiometers in a TV may take it "out of range" damaging circuits.

- TVs have high voltage and you could also electrocute yourself.

You have again been warned!
