HI!

I need some serious help with my Sony grand Vega kdf-42we655. I got it a little over a year ago, and of course the warranty is only good for a year. The problem I am having is that the screen is turning blue! It started in the bottom right corner, and its been working it way up the mid of the screen. In a few weeks it’s going to be un-watchable and I haven’t even paid for half of it yet!!! So if anyone knows what the problem is or how it can be fixed I would be much obliged.

Thanks!!

I have the same set (it's about 11 months old) and so far, haven't experienced the problem you're having. Since your set is still relatively new, you might want to go to the SonyStyle website and click on the extended warranty link on the right of the home page. You can purchase an extended warranty directly from Sony. I don't know however, if they require your set to be in warranty in order to qualify or not. There's a phone number to call. I would call them, tell them when you bought the set and see if they'll sell you the warranty. I'm not suggesting that you should not tell them about the problem you're having, but if they don't ask....don't tell.

Just Had over service man He said the blue tint is being caused by some bad optical unit in set (not too sure exactly of the name). He's ordering the unit says it is easier to swap out the whole unit. Should take about a week. I do have a service contract.

I have the same problem with my TV as you are having with yours. I called sony and the tech guy called me today and I descibed the problem to him and he knew right away what the problem was, a bad optical unit, and said he would write up an estimate and call me right back. He called me back and said parts, labor, tax and everything $908 and some change. So then I called a few local TV repair places and they said that that part is usually $7-800. So I called sony back and set up an appointment. Sony is the way to go! Everyone I talked to was great and knew what they were talking about.

Hopefully this helps you.

I to have the kdf 42we655 .While i'm not having the same problem i'm looking
for service manual. I need to take the back so it can be cleaned of dust.
After two years these units may over heat, i just replaced the lamp and within two weeks it blew, the old lamp still works. Thanks
