I have a TH-42PX25U. It's about 2 years old now. never had a problem. My set up is ..
dtv - component
dvd - hdmi
vcr - composite

today, i tried to watch a tape, and it seems like all the video input are disable. i tried to plug in all 3 composite input, but all have the same result (there's audio/ no video). i know the vcr works becaused i tried it on another tv set. any sort of troubleshooting tip? i also pull thed power and plug it back ... thanks.

Try one of the audio cables that works instead of the composite cable?

See the HDTV FAQ "Things to check first". Maybe something there will spawn a thought.

i did most of those "things to check first".. first, i switch cables (to one that i know works), then i switch video inputs (v1, v2, v3). then i tried other input, component/ hdmi. (the latter two works). i even tried two vcr. the last thing i did was power off the tv and power it on. I only get audio and no video. does the composite video work differently on the tv. its weird that all 3 video input function does not work at the same time.

Just to give it a bump, I tried playing around w/ the composite cable last night. With all 3 cable connected to vcr, I did experimented with the connection to the TV. When I plug just the yellow to the tv, there's no picture. If i connect the red/ white w/o the yellow, there's no sound. If I connect all 3, there's sound, but no video. Then i connected the yellow w/ either red or white, there's 1 channel sound, but still no picture. This sounds like a tv issue. Is there anything else i can do. I really prefer not to send a 42 in. plasma screen to the factory for repair. My 1 year warranty is over, so this might cost me quite a few bux.
thanks.

Did you try a different set of 3 cables? (you did say you tried different cables, just wondering if you tried a different set of three) It sounds as though there is a "short" either inside the TV, or VCR or inside the cables.

If you can't get it to work, you could hook it up the way you have it to the TV and send the sound to an A/V Receiver or HTiB via analogue audio connected via piggyback cables or Y-connector to enable you to continue to have the one analogue audio cable connected to the TV, which is very weird.

This would not work if the issue is inside the VCR. Have you tried connecting the audio from the VCR to something with analogue audio inputs? (Receiver, Radio, HTiB?)

Yes. I tried three set of composite cable, and two VCR. (all three composite input were tested). I have not gone the route of going throught the receiver since i'm getting audio, just not video. I've tried enough to almost be convinced that it's a tv issue. My receiver have a/v switching. Is it possible to connected a composite from my vcr to my receiver, then connect to the tv through component?

Is it possible to connected a composite from my vcr to my receiver, then connect to the tv through component? If the receiver upconverts to component. Some do, some don't.

Another option is to get a composite to S-video adaptor. Do a search - Very inexpensive. I should have mentioned that earlier.
