Noticing that the 70" models did not appear in the Sony Style summer magazine, I questioned my rep. who told me Sony is re-modeling their 70" which will go for about cdn $9000 (vs the $17000 earlier this year) and the speakers will be removable. For those in a tight space, this may make the difference.
Any one have information on this new 70" due in the fall?

Are you sure this isn't the 70 inch SXRD LCoS XBR2 set that will list for about $6999 and is anticipated for an October or November release (Sony Style)?
I know of no LCD size like this as Sony stops at 55" for their LCD RPTVs and 46" for the LCD flat panels...please explain. :sightv:

Sorry, I should have been more clear, it is the RP Lcd 70" (I believe SXRD). In Canada I was told it will retail for cdn $9000.

You might want to check Sonystyle in Canada for pricing vs. USA sites.
At any rate, the set should be as fine, IMO, as the older qualia 006 it replaced, but until reviewers like ourselves (and HT magazines with equipment), it is speculation for now as to the quality of picture and so on.
I remember seeing it on their site, but the side speakers did not look like these go from top to bottom of the set's sides like the qualia model did...odd.
Thank you for the information and I, too, am waiting for it to come out.
