I have been having a recurring problem with my HR10-250. Periodically, I will get a 'Searching for signal in Satelite 2' error message while on a channel. Sometimes, I can still watch the channel with the error message, and the message will go a way after a period of time. Other times, I get the message and there is only a gray screen. When I get the gray screen, I can often change the channel and get rid of the message, and get something back on the screen.

Whenever I get the error message, I can always clear it, and recover the channel if it was grayed out, by doing a 'Test Satelite Signal Strength' test via the setup.

Any help would be appreciated.

Try resetting the dish. Go back and forth on the settings, a little this way, a little that way. Keep your ladder up until your done. I just reset mine last week and I am able to use the Guide and Autotune and I get a good picture. It doesn't take much.

Before you climb up on the roof, run through the various transponders and see what kind of signals you are getting now. You should be getting high 80's to 90's on all the active ones, if that's the case, the dish aim isn't the problem.

I recommend you check out tivocommunity.com for HR10-250 help, they have a much larger user base of these units then we do, you'd have a better chance of finding someone with the same problem.

Thanks for the numbers (80's-90's). Yesterday I reset the Tilt and improved the numbers. Today, I reset the Azimuth and I acheived much better results. Out of 28 transponders only 5 are lower that 80. I used a fine point marking pen to mark beginning setting. Up and down ladder several times. The Guide seems to work faster and I'm sure inclement weather won't pose a problem now. I use the H10 for OTA only. I won't be making any more changes on the dish. It's good enough with a good quality picture. I hope this helps crt4life.
