Light replacement on 2005 SXRD

I'm having my 50" SXRD (KDSR50XBR1) delivered the day after I arrive from my honeymoon on July 11th. I held off buying an extra lamp in case I get a defective one. I'm told the lamps last approximately 8000 hours.

Is there an indicator on the TV or does the bulb just burn out one day? Several months from now, I don't want my TV going out unexpectedly.

And with the 2006 models coming out soon, will it use the same XL5100 as the 2005 SXRD? Will I ever have a hard time finding this replacement?

I believe most TVs have a service menu item for bulb life. Perhaps someone can help you with your specific TV.

The 2006 SXRD models use a different lamp then the 2005 models XL5100.
