small black spot on top of tv

Wondering if anyone knows why my sony rear projection tv kp-51ws520 i bought last year has a small black spot growing on the top of the screen near the plastic frame of the tv.(i also have a new sony center channel speaker on top of the tv, right above where the black spot is.) It wouldn't be the magnets because the speaker is shielded and the guts of the tv are at the bottom. I'm wondering if the weight of the center channel could be causing a dead spot due to pressure.....if thats possible.

Does the spot 'go away' if you remove the speaker?

If the weight of the speaker is causing a bend in the RPTV frame/mirror, then that could be an issue. As you say, the magnetic field should not be an issue.

You may wish to make a shelf or something to put under the speaker to spread the weight out further so it rests on an area that's well supported, or get a center speaker shelf.
