Not bad looking without the side speaker. The price is the same as the older model.

Yeah I pre-ordered mine form Tape Works Texas; I am hoping to get it in two weeks.

Looks like a dream come true for those fence-sitters wanting a SXRD set who did not want or need the side speaker "ears" and desired 1080p inputs over 1080i.
Personally, I do not feel anyone will tell difference with 1080i inputs that are upconverted to 1080p (present SXRDs) vs. 1080p source material to 1080p inputs, unless it is for gaming.
The elimination of the side speakers on this A2000 series of SXRDs is great for those wanting a bigger set (55 or 60 inches diagonal) and can finally fit these in to their wall space or HT center.
I can hardly wait for CC or BB to have them out on display and some magazine or cnet review them.

theZman350,

Hey, have you ordered from tapeworkstexas before? How is their customer service?

Well Brian Pool is the guy I talked to when I ordered my TV he is also the one that has been sending out the info from there news letter that’s just about these TV’s. He was super kewl answered all my questions.

He has even emailed everyone on the list that has per-ordered one the tracking info on the fright trucking line that is shipping them to him so we can see when, he gets them at Tape Works Texas and then when he will send them out. But the first order of 20, that he is getting on the 20th are all per-ordereds, which are already sold.

So to actually answer your questions, no I haven’t ordered form them before. I never even heard of them tell I found a mailing list to sign up on form some forum. But Brain was very helpful and honest! I am sure you could just give him a call and see what a per-ordered would entail for you.

gparris,

Hey just wanted to say thanks for you help and info in the past on these TV’s. I also wanted to say; I’ll let you know what I find out about how these sets work with the whole 1080i vs. 1080p thing, but I will be doing a good bit of gaming on it so... But I am glad that the new one has the speakers on the bottom now but the old look of the speakers on the sides has kind of grown on me know although space was never an issue with me… LOL

theZman350: You are welcome and I hope your new SXRD is everything you hope it is.
Look forward to reports of it from you and everyone else.
Those side speakers fit my HT center unit (see our forum's gallery for my pictures), barely, but they do sort of "grow" on you-you're right and the fact the XBR2 has them makes me feel a bit better, too.
If I had to get another SXRD, I would get the A2000, however in the 55" size for the master bedroom and the new 70" XBR2 for the HT room vs. my Hitachi 720p set.
