I beleive I have a hair on the lens. When watching an all white scene, I see a small semi circular line about an inch around the right of center of the screen and it is always there and only noticeable on white or really light colored scenes.
My question is how can I clean or blow off the light engine lens?
Is there an easy access or can I increase the speed on the fan at a higher rate to maybe move this dust particle? This is driving me nuts and I don't want to call in a service guy for this. P.S. I am also an Electronics Technician.

I'd say you can get that covered as a warranty issue, no?

Within your manual you will find a bulb replacement section.
Go about it as if you were changing the bulb. With a can of compressed air you should be able to remove the hair.

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it. I think that lens is parallel to the bulb assembly. :usa1:

Were you able to blow off the hair? I just got my 2nd Sony LCD rear projection. This one was sent to me from Sony because I had so many light engine problems with the last one. I turned off all of the lights, turned the tv on and did not turn the cable box on. What do you know i see a green line near the right side. I think they just make these light engines with POS plastic and they are not fully sealed. I am thinking of getting some compressed air and blowing it in the vents to see if it goes away. but then again, where is the dust going to go. its already in the tv which means it will be back once it settles.

If you can see it clearly it is not likely on the lens but on the screen or mirror. Things on the surface of the lens will be so far from the focal plane that they will not be distinct and their features will be lost. Debris on the screen or mirror is much more commonly visible.

Sorry guys I have not been to this site in a while. After speaking to a an authorized dealer in repairs of these tv's, I' ve decided to leave it alone for now, simply because it will possibly make the situation worse then it already is. I only see it about 5% to 10% of the time, therefore I will wait until I change the bulb and possibly use very slight air pressure. Also I was told that it is probably on of the color panels and not on the light engine lens. I will tell you that it is annoying to know that it is there.
