I bought this player this weekend from a local Costco, on sale for $60 (yes cheap player I know). It's an upconverting player and came with an included HDMI cable. Firstly, can I adjust my TV's settings to that of what they were with my previous DVD player when on the component cable hookups, or should I re-play my DVE to set it up? Also the free included HDMI cable, is there really any reason to upgrade it, or not really? I don't need a $100 Monster cable I know, but I wasn't sure if included cables are really inferior or can be improved upon... I hooked up the player via HDMI to the TV of course, and then via Toslink to my H/K AVR-130 receiver. So far everything looks and sounds great running at 1080i up-vert. Last question when up-verting, 1080i vs. 720p, any differance really or one better than the other? I know when watching OTA broadcasts, they look indentical with 720p almost looking better some times...

Setup the new player using DVE.
Probably no need to get a new HDMI cable.
Use 720p or 1080i... whatever look best to you.

Check on running DVE for it. And with the included cable, I figured the "if it ain't broke, then don't fix it" applied there. The cable is probably the same that A/R or other lower priced cables use anyways more than likely. definitely no need for something fancy, quality is already better than my progressive scan, and i can't imagine a cable making it really any better.

I am having problems with this DVD player.
I also got it from costco.
But what I am facing is sometimes I loose connection with the DVD player, even though the DVD is playing and can see the chapters are changing I dont see any picture.
I have used the HDMI cable to attach my DVD player.
I cannot even go the setup menu where I can setup or atleast reset the factory settings.
This problem is so frustrating, sometime if I am lucky I can catch the connection otherwise I have to randomly press few buttons and then sometimes it comes again.
The support from Toshiba is horrible.
If anyone can help me, I can really appreciate.
Thank you,
Abhi

I just bought this DVD player from WOOT www.woot.com for $44 including shipping. Sounds like quite few people are having problems with it though.
