Some things to check -
Are you on the right TV input? I know you hear sound, but maybe your sound comes from external receiver.
Are your cables connected correctly/securely to the TV?
Have you tried unplugging the TV for a few minutes to force a "hard-reset"?
How old is the TV? It's DLP so maybe your lamp has blown if you've used it a while, or perhaps you had a faulty lamp to begin with.
Did your power maybe go out causing cable box to reset and box is not sending correct output?

Sorry if none of that is any help but that would be my initial troubleshooting steps. Goodluck to you!

See the HDTV FAQ "Things to check first". When you've exhausted that list and you still don't have video, then time to call repair.

Hello,

I am currently a service tech supervisor for Akai, just thought I would browse some forums to get an idea of the issues that are out there. If unit is giving sound and no picture and there is light coming from the screen, most likely it is a connection issue, I would try running other types of cables to see if there are any better results. When the unit is turned on does the AKAI logo appear? Are you able to bring up the Menu or change the source? If your not able to bring up Menu or change the Source, it probably is a service issue and you can call us to get service on the television. If menu does come up and you are able to change the source, most likely it is a connection issue.
