When I had my original Sumsung DTV HD box, I ran it thru the DVI cable and the picture was definitely better than thru component.

My new DTV HD box has no DVI, but HDMI. I have an HDMI to DVI adapter by Monster and it works. Question is, am I getting signal degradation by using this adapter. Would I be better off just using Component Cables?

If the signal is getting through, the adaptor is not degrading the signal.

Regarding CV cables, read the HDTV FAQ "DVI/HDMI Information", point 2. It depends on the TV and the input calibration (or lack thereof), therefore one cannot generalize. Try it yourself and see what YOU prefer.

And calibrate the inputs - See the HDTV FAQ "What you need to do to your new HDTV".
