i recentelyt bought a lg 50" plasma hdtv and use direct tv service. my question is when a dark scene is on the screen you can see horizontal lines moving from top to bottom of the screen. i was wondering if this is a problem with the tv or just the fact that i am watching non hd programing. i am about to get the hdtv tivo receiver from direct tv. other than that the picture is great...alittle grainy a times but from what i read that is kinda the norm of watching reg def programing on a hdtv......

You may have what's called a "ground loop". Try searching here or on the web for more info.

Best suggestion is to disconnect everything from the TV and reconnect one piece of gear at a time. Leave the DirecTV till last.
Once you determine the offending device, you can address via the vendor or installer to properly resolve.

Once you have located the piece of equipment that is causing the grounding loop. Put an adapter on the AC that only has two. I've seen some people just break off the third prong on the plug, but that's up to you. This should make it work, happens all the time w/ subs (you get a humming noise).
