Has anyone experience a flickering or while watching a program the program goes blank and flickers 2 to 3 times. My tv was purchased 12-17-05
The type of flickering you describe can often be caused by a poor connection somewhere, perhaps some cracked solder on a circuit board, or a potentiometer or other switch which has a poor connection due to lack of use, or perhaps the cables are not connected as well as they once were. See the HDTV FAQ "Things to check first".
These issues can often be very difficult to track down, due to all the possible causes. Good Luck.

Besides the flickering issue have you had any other problems with this set? Are you happy with your purchase? I own the same set purchased at about the same time. Thanks

get ready for the thrill ride fellas. If you make it without any flickering issue, then you get to look forward to the guns/bulbs taking a dump at about the 2 year mark. Then at the 3-4 year mark the convergence IC's will blow ( hope you bought the extended warranty).
I have had two Sony rear projection tv's in the past 4 years and they both blew up several times each.
I have not heard of many CRTs "taking a dump" on CRT-based RPTVs - there may have been a very small number. This technology has been around a long time and my last CRT-based TV lasted over 20 years.
There are no bulbs on CRT-based RPTVs so that's not an issue.
The convergence ICs have been an issue on some older CRT-based RPTVs, however, it typically costs about the same to fix the ICs as an extended warranty costs, so all the people with extended warranties and no failures will be out the cost of the extended warranty.
Although some people feel comfortable with an extended warranty, with the stores making money hand over fist with them, it means that a lot of people don't need them. See the HDTV FAQ on Extended Warranties. Buy EW's if you're the type of person who needs "insurance" on this sort of repair.
I have insurance for catastrophic stuff - my deductable on my cars and home is $1000 or more, so my insurance costs are significantly lower and my payback is only a couple of years.
By taking care of the "small stuff" myself, I save a lot of money in the long run.
Sorry to hear about your Sony problems.
