Well I have my money now and am ready to buy. But now I'm not sure what to get. I was going to go with the Sony LCD XBR2,

But in further research I have seen alot of people commenting that they prefer Sharp's LCDs over Sony's. Now I'm torn between these two.

Sharp Aquos LC45GDU 45" LCD

Sony Bravia XBR 46" LCD KDL-46XBR2

The Sony has the better numbers it seems but I've heard things like contrast can be padded and brightness is about as unreliable. I am not trying to base my decision on that. Anyone familiar with both these TV's PQs from first hand experience. I'd be appreciative of any input. Money is not the issue so much as just having the better TV.

My understanding is that the Sony stands better chance of giving the buyer all 1080i lines deinterlaced and Sharp's models have not done as well.
This is my observation regarding the return and exchange rate at the local CC store I go to with clients and manager's feedback in terms of satisfaction with the quality of picture and actual manufacture. Add to that what I have read on cnet, S&V Magazine, Home Theater magazine and The Perfect Vision about Sharp LCD flat panel HDTVs.
But YOU be the judge as to what you like about the HD picture both of these display, what you will use it for and how it looks to you, 45 inches or 46 inches.
Some stores offer a 30-day exchange for this reason and if this assists you, try this instead.
I have set up more Sony LCD Bravias than Sharp so far and given the choice with clients to the selection, the Sony goes home more often than not.
