That is the link to the sears website, I have to buy from here, b/c I can get a discount.
I have a MAXIMUM amount to spend of 1700 U.S. dollars (that includes the discount. so go by price on website) I would like an HDTV, and I am torn apart.
Here are a couple I have been looking at:

Thanks for the help and input.
Have a look at a few of the HDTV FAQs:
- How large an HDTV to buy
- Which HDTV to buy
- Types of HDTV
- What you need to do to your new HDTV
- Etc.
Asking us to pick a TV for you is like asking someone to buy a GM car for you worth less than $40k. Would you be happy with a two seater for your family of 6?
Once you've narrowed down the choices and know why you've done so, then we could likely be more helpful

Thanks, and sorry, I thought the links would be close to what I was going for.
I want a HDTV atleast 42" in size.
Type of HDTV either a plasma, lcd, or DLP. All of these seemed to have decent PQ, however I have heard dlp's tend to die.
My HDTV doesn't need to do anything special, I'm an occasional DVD watcher with digital cable from comcast. I'm upgrading from a 25" , 6 year old, crt. I'm not too picky. :D
So based on that, does anyone see a decent TV under 1700 on that Sears website that is worth my 1700?

You really need to do more research before coming to us because you have yet to decide what type of display you like. Also, your assumptions are unsubstantiated because DLP sets do not "die." The lamp "dies" within 5000-10000 hours and then needs to be replaced. On the other hand, LCDs and Plasmas do not die, but they do degrade over time and once they've "died", theres no replacing a lamp to get it running again. So you have a DLP that could, theoretically, last forever but will need to have its lamp upgraded every 3-5 years or so and an LCD and Plasma that will last much longer but once the screen is shot, thats it.
You really need to focus on what technology you like and why. Once you've figured that out, you should come back here for any further inquiries. Check out those FAQs to help you understand what the strengths and weaknesses of each are and just go from there. Buying an HDTV should be a learning experience anc should probably take a good few weeks/months for you to really decide what you want. Good luck.

I like this one. BB,CC and HHG Greg all have it for about 1700. I am not sure about your discount- for examaple how much, but Sears will price match.
You can get it from Amazon for about 15-1600 delivered. Not sure if your discount is that substantial but the lowest I have seen in brick and mortar store is is 1450-1499.

I just have not seen a TV lately that offers so much bang for the buck.
I am getting one this week, unless I stumble over something else. I love your TV but I am a cheapskate HA HA :D But en again if I can talk a salesman into the right price I may have 1080p yet :drool11:

Well I spent about 9 hours straight last night researching. I eneded up with the samsung hl-s4266w. Here are a few reasons:
-don't worry about burn in
-I have no rainbow effects that I have been able to notice so far.
-Sales rep had teh same TV, and he has been happy with it, and said he hasn't had any problems or rainbow effects except for one movie- sin city.
- bulb goes out, I have a three year service warranty (free replacement atleast once, or as many times as it goes out within three years.)
-42" was plenty big, I have it installed. I have only witnessed DVD's through component, I am extremely happy. I am getting HDTV installed from comcast this week.
- TV went on sale for 1300 today
-No longer have a 25" 6 year old tv -- haha
thanks again guys
