Hi I just bought a used RCA scenium 61 inch projection TV. It is 3 years old. So heres my question, I have it hooked up for HD digital cable, but when they did that now every channel has the top and the bottom of the screen cut-off. Before the cable company hooked it up I could zoom to 16/9, 4/3, etc. but now I can't. They hooked it up to CMP1 if this helps at all.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Andy
Most HDTVs cannot properly zoom incoming HD signals (1080i/720P).
There is usually some "overscan" on HDTVs of about 4-6%, so some of the "original" image will be "off screen".
See the HDTV FAQs on "Black Bars" and "Widescreen Stretch Modes" for additional information.
Which Cable STB (Set top box) do you have? See the FAQs on "Motorola" and "SA". If you set the STB up properly, you should be able to properly stretch the SD channels, but not the HD ones.
If you have an SA STB, you may have pressed the "#" key beside the zero on the remote and invoked the stretch modes. Repeatedly press the # key to cycle back to Normal.
Please advise if any of this helped.

You are awesome, I read a few of the FAQs for the SA STB, and it explained it perfectley. It was just the # button that had it zoomed on 1080 zoom 2, I would have never been able to figure it out without your help. once again Thanks again!!!!
