If you haven't done so already, check out the FAQ section, 7th one down on the home page. See the post "If only I'd have known". The features may help you decide.

There is probably not a lot of difference in picture quality, so features and price will assist you.

Go with the top choice on your list - the Hitachi. You won't be sorry. I had a Toshiba, almost bought a Sony until I saw it side by side the Hitachi and there was no doubt which one had the best picture. :D

Overall any of the sets in your list are worth buying. Each has it's strong points and week points. You have to pick what is important to you. Most of us will reccomend the set we already own so we may not be the best to ask a question like that. Nyway I own a Mit's 55909 and would not trade it for any other set on the market. I like the NetCommand for controlling all of my other A/V devices. Good Luck

I guess it would be helpful for me to know what some of the strengths and weaknesses are for these RPTVs. I realize most folks will be recommending what they bought. What I would like to know is why they decided on that set. Features, price, picture quality, etc.

Right now, I'm leaning towards the Hitachi and Mitsu.

I chose the Toshiba 50HDX82 for the price $1800 + $300 shipping. Picture Quality, and it has DVI input. I also heard good things from Hitatchi and Mits. Sony is way overpriced.

Of course we recommend what we bought, unless we're no happy with it. I got a h*ll of a deal on the Sony and had it paid for, but.........when I compared the pictures side by side, I was willing to pay the extra bucks for the Hitachi knowing that I'd be staring at that set in my living room for several years to come. Picture quality was more important to me, in this case.

Good luck! :D

Please don't misunderstand my comments - the Mits. are great sets........no doubt about it - I'd say that the cost of yours was higher than the range that the Sony and the Hitachi are in, though. I'm a die-hard Sony fan too, so to dump the Sony for the Hitachi took some visual proof of all the rave reviews it got online. Take care, :)

Tom, I am as new to this as anyone. I did my 3 month of research, did my price checking, and did my side by side. I ended up with a Mits WS55909 Dimond set. In my option it was by far the best picture I saw. As for price it cost me $3400. installed with a 3 year extended warranty. I'm sure I could have spent less, or even alot more. But for my needs the Mits offer the types of features the I needed. I still don't know if $3400. was a good deal or a bad deal. But I love the set so to me it was a great deal.

Tom, That was last years SuperBowl. This year it is on ABD in real HD not FOX's overly enhanced by graphics 480p widescreen disaster.

One of the best thing about hindsight is after reading the article is that Fox is loosing the battle as all the other networks embrace full blown HD. So much for Fox having the "right" idea.

anyways, the only reason I am going to watch the Superbowl is b/c of the HD broadcast. I wouldnt mind seeing the Raiders kill the bucs as well....

DO'H! Guess that's what I get for staying up too late these days glued to the new tv.........lack of sleep............sorry. The reception here for FOX sucks anyway, so I'm doubly-glad it's on ABC this year. Thx for the info. ;)
